RM of Storthoaks’s story
The Rural Municipality of Storthoaks No. 31 was first incorporated as a rural municipality on December 11, 1911, under the name RM of Storkoaks No. 31. The spelling was changed a few months later, on March 15, 1912, and it has been the RM of Storthoaks ever since.
Within the municipality lie the village of Storthoaks, the organized hamlet of Bellegarde and the locality of Fertile. The RM office is in Storthoaks, where council meets on the second Monday of each month.
The Estevan Section of the Canadian Pacific Railway runs through the area, serving Fertile, Storthoaks and a string of nearby points along the line.
